This is a large book filled with recipes and color photos. Forced to repress his gift and hide it from others, Louis successfully manages to lead an introverted life until the day he finds an unusual metal puzzle. The writing is mostly in the first person from the point-of-view of the main protagonist, Louis Edwards, and takes us through his "discovery" and recruiting into the "Savants Institute" together with a new cohort of students (the first in 18 years), and describes his initial trepidation on whether or not to join, followed by a rather sharp transition into full action going after the "bad guys" (the Red Plague). All the characters are so believable - nothing shallow or unbelievable.

I was shocked by McDaniel's momentary betrayal of the Zen spirit of humility, compassion and open-mindedness. This book includes: MRS. WHITEHEAD, Former Chairman, Goldman Sachs & Co. He is an immensly talented and gifted writer who continues to make us proud everyday. That actually detracted a bit for me because the names of some towns and battles were omitted as the war was still being fought.
